Electrical studies

Electrical methods are the oldest tool used for geophysical research, although the tests proved to be slow, expensive and imprecise. At present, electrical methods have greatly improved with the introduction of new techniques, data collection through powerful computers and the use of PCs for data processing.

Method applications:
  • Landfill demarcation.
  • Lixiviates detection.
  • Pollution plumes detection.
  • Tip rating.
  • Resistant characterization of materials.
  • Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES).
  • Short VES.
  • Substratum stratigraphy.
  • Groundwater table location.
  • Cavities detection and modelling.
  • Geological structures characterization.
  • Mineral resources evaluation.
  • Civil engineering use (ports, roads, canals, etc...)
Common tests:
  • Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES).
  • Short VES.
  • Electrical tomography.
  • Crossed tomography.
  • Shaft or well testing.
